HISTORIC DISTRICT SIGNS

The City of Riverside's historic district sign system, created in 1993, suffered from some design flaws. They had inconsistent graphics, were visually busy, and were identical in design to signs designating other types of areas. Large areas of white weathered the elements poorly. Wexler of California worked with city staff and councilmembers and advised specific goals for an updated sign system: signs should be quick-reading, simple, clear, and distinct from other city signs.
