WOOD STREETS MONUMENT SIGNS
The City of Riverside's Wood Streets neighborhood features a series of 1920s monument signs at some streets. The signs has suffered neglect: inappropriate reflective signs replaced the original enameled metal signs, the stucco was chipping, some clay tiles had been removed, and the lights were of a later 1950s "town and country" design. The City worked on repairs and installing the original "acorn" lights, while Wexler of California identified budget-effective ways to mimic the look of enameled metal. In the end, steel sheets were powder-coated, then individually hand-painted by a sign artist to restore original character.
